I woke up one morning, hoping that things would just change. After I got ready to embrace my day, I noticed change was a mile and mile away from my reach. I decided to bring changes to my life, and to change my life in the way that would complement my body, mind and spirit.
I’m still in the process of transforming my own world to a better world, and I hope one day I will share a piece of my world with the whole world. When I came across the below image, it made me smile. This image keeps reminding me that I’m on the right track. I hope it makes you smile as well.
I DID CLEAN IT HONEY….I SWEAR!!! Ever heard this when you come home expecting a nice clean house only to be disappointed as you walk through the door? I don’t want to be sexist, but for this blog let us assume that ladies are the ones disappointed when they leave their men to clean up a bit while they run errands/work and come back to something less than the perfect picture of clean that she was expecting.I know that it is not always the woman who cleans and each relationship has its roles within, but for the purpose of my point here, I am just going with women clean better than men….
So…I use to be a strong believer that if I asked my boyfriend to clean or do something he would do a half-ass job so that I wouldn’t ask him to do it again. I just assumed that he was not trying or giving it 100% because if he did it well maybe I would ask him to do it again and he wanted to avoid that at all costs! I actually discussed this frequently with my girlfriends trying to get an idea if my man was the only one doing this or was this a national trend that I was just going to have to deal with? Of course, they were having a similar issue. Everytime they asked their husband or boyfriend to help out with something the results didn’t come close to what they would have done. The saying “If you want it done right, do it yourself” was ringing all too true here. So then what? Do i just take over the cleaning duties of the whole house because he does not do it like i would? Absolutely NOT! this is a partnership…and I am not your maid!
So at dinner with friends one night we brought this subject up and accused the men at the table of slacking on cleaning duties so that we wouldn’t ask them to do it again. We thought “HA, we are so on to their game…they are going to HAVE to do better now!!” well….we were wrong (and I don’t accept that fact easily!) My best friend’s husband explained that actually that is not true at all. He explained that men do try their best and at no time slack off so that they can get out of it. I don’t expect this is the case for all men, but he said simply enough “Women just have a higher standard of clean than men”. Ok…i can accept that, but then if you know your standard is lower than mine…why don’t you just clean it better? He explained that when they finish cleaning they see it as completely clean, so we can’t fault them. Well then I guess that is that…so ladies, don’t fault the men in your lives for not being as particular as you. In their eyes, they are doing what you asked them to the best of their ability.
The only question left is…do they slack on other things to get out of doing it again? (grocery shopping? laundry?) Maybe we will never know….
* Research has confirmed that chocolate is a good source of the kind of antioxidants found in tea. But actually, the antioxidant content of chocolate is four times that of tea. Plus, the fat in chocolate can help your immune system and it can also help outwit cytokines by reducing your susceptibility to infections and inflammation.
* Did you know that Oral-B stands for Oral and B for Better
If you read my earlier post about music, then you would understand my unconditional love for music. Turning a bad day to a good day, is the magic that lies in a good music. When you feel that beat, turning the feeling in you around, then you gotta dance it off. This week we’re having a guest blogger, Chantelle Richards also known as ” Dancy pants chantz” is going to share with us her passion about dancing.
– I find the content of her message very uplifting and I hope you will enjoy it as well:
When I asked Christian if I could be a guest blogger on his blog he said yes right away. At first, I was beyond excited…thinking “I have so much to talk about”, “what should I write about?”, “I wonder if he’ll let me do 2 since I just can’t decide what to talk about”. Well, a day later and all the ideas that I was throwing around in my head don’t seem good enough…I want something Better!! But what???
I have not read many blogs over the years… I can count 3 that I actually kept up on and 2 were family members and one of my best friends who moved away. So this leaves me with little to draw on as to how to start.
So I guess, let me introduce myself and go from there. I am a registered nurse at McMaster Children’s Hospital, the oldest of 4 kids, and I love to laugh and have fun. I try not to take life too seriously.
So what should we talk about?? We should talk about Dancing! Yes, dancing. Christian has posted how important music is in life and I agree 100% that music can turn a bad day around and make it better…but add dancing and there is no way you can stay mad or sad. Anybody can listen to music when feeling stressed or down and distract yourself into a better mood…but make the choice to get up and dance to that music and voila…no more blues!
Do you have to be good at dancing to do this?? Absolutely not…actually it’s better if you don’t even think about how you are dancing…just go crazy! In university, I used this “technique” to relieve the stress of my classes and assignments a lot!! My house mates and I actually called the upstairs hallway in our house “club de disco” (we made signs and everything!!). So if our assignments were getting overwhelming or we just needed a study break to bust a move…we knew where to go…club de disco. Very often I would get a message from my roommate upstairs saying something like “dance party in 5 minutes” and off I ran for a 10 minute dance party and then back to work…well let’s be honest sometimes these dance parties lasted a lot longer than 10 minutes (we actually have a routine, but that’s another blog altogether!)
What if you don’t have a “club de disco”?…well then make one! Other options include but are not limited to….
-Chair dancing (bust it to your favorite tunes right there at your desk!)
-Dance down the street (there is actually a man in Hamilton who has become quite well-known for this)
-Dance in any store as if you were practicing for an upcoming show (just like Baby does in Dirty Dancing) *note I have done this in Wal-Mart and got a few stares, but I was loving life
-Dance while you clean the house or make dinner
-Dance in your car while driving (keeping your eyes on the road of course!! SAFETY FIRST) *this option also allows you to sing out loud to your faves without judgment…just be sure you are driving alone*
So what is the take home message??? DANCE,DANCE, and DANCE … no matter what kind of mood you find yourself in, I guarantee you will be in better spirit after a little turn around the living room.
Battling against nicotine is a tough battle. I recently started smoking when I was on trip to Europe, everybody was smoking around me. When exploring the cities or some good bistros, cigarettes were always around the corner of my eyes. I knew it would be a bad decision to smoke but I succumbed to the temptation. After I came back home, I noticed that I brought back the smoking habit with me.
At my work, during the break, it’s always a good opportunity to get out with coworkers and go for a smoke. It felt so good to socialize with people from different department, growing my networking while the nicotine addiction was growing as well. I found myself buying a pack of cigarettes every two days. It was very painful on the budget and my poor lungs. I subconsciously knew I hated what I was doing but I just couldn’t simply quit. I tried several times and success was always out of my reach.
My girlfriend came across Smokers’ cleanse while she was shopping at Goodness me. After she gave me the cleansing product, I read the reviews on the product and I liked the fact that the content is all natural. Shortly after I stopped smoking on november 8th, I started the cleansing. Let me tell you, I feel good.
The cleansing process can be completed in 30 days or 90 days depending how long you have been smoking. Smoking and nicotine affected my health, mood, budget and the people around me. I’m glad that I won the battle of quitting cigarettes, now life is tasting like the good old days.
How often we think we know someone but we don’t really know them? Sometimes I think that I will never stop discovering who I am. I would like to share with you 10 things I bet you didn’t know about me:
1-Sleeping with socks is one of the best and warmly feeling ever, I know it’s weird but I just like to stay in my socks.
2-Seriously, don’t waste your time asking me if I want “breakfast in the morning”, it just doesn’t taste good.
3-A clean bathroom is a sanctuary. When I step in, I find peace. I recognised my obsessive compulsive disorder about clean bathrooms few years ago. And there is nothing I can do about it.
4-So fresh, so clean. That’s a good feeling I personally enjoy when I go for a hair cut every two weeks.
5-Cooking a good home-made meal is one of the finest pleasure, I prefer to cook a meal at home than go out.
6-Dancing is like dreaming with your body. I love to dance, and I can’t stop the beat in my head.
8-Shopping is fun and I enjoy it as a leisure activity, the only problem is that I can’t stand shopping for extended hours. Please, let’s make it quick.
9-Fashion accessory is the 8th wonder of the world. Accessories can add color, style and class to an outfit, and create a certain look. Shopping for accessories is an experience, you don’t know what you gonna get.
10-Being involved in martial arts at a young age, created a lasting passion that just doesn’t dissipate. Anything relating to martial art is a stimulating subject.
Two years ago, while I was on my quest for trying different wines, I stumbled on a very unique and rich wine. The Two Ocean Sauvignon Blanc is a surprising wine for the price. The first time I tried it, it offered me a very easy, smooth and fruit forward taste. I have a picky background in selecting my wine but I must say that the “Two Ocean” easily seduced me. In wine tasting the aftertaste or finish of a wine, is an important part of the evaluation. After tasting the Two Ocean Sauvignon Blanc , I couldn’t feel the persistent, bitter aftertaste in a wine.
Whether you are completing your christmas selection for wines or just looking for a new wine to try, the Two Ocean Sauvignon Blanc is definitely going to tantalize your curiosity. Coming from the southern tip of Africa, where two mighty oceans meet ( Two Oceans), this wine will take your taste and your happy moment to Africa. For more information on the Two Ocean Sauvignon blanc and all the Two Oceans collection, please take a moment and taste the following website:
Planning on visiting the city of light? Want to get lost in the maze of classy shopping arcades, or have a drink in one of the finest cafes in the world? Paris is definitely your next destination. Last year, while I was visiting my family and my friends in the big city, I had the opportunity to visit some places I hadn’t had the chance to explore since my last stop. If you are looking to have one of the best views of the city, make sure you go for the Seine cruise dinner, it allows you dine in style while you enjoy the spectacular sights of the Seine:
While dinning and cruising in style, you get to enjoy a great view of the famous Eiffel Tower. All you will need at this moment is the camera zoom for some good pictures:
After getting tired of sightseeing, you will need to recharge your battery. Stop for a drink and try some of the world-famous french cuisine in a bistro:
Paris has more familiar landmarks than any other city in the world. As a result, first-time visitors arrive in the french capital with all sorts of expectations: romance along the seine, grand vistas, people who won’t speak English etc… The best approach is to set aside the preconceptions of Paris and to explore the city as if the tip of the Eiffel Tower or the Notre Dame church is about to pop into your view at any moment.
The memories you will take home will last forever…
